Cartridge Brass (Yellow Brass)
Standards: ASTM B36, DIN 2.0265, BS 2871 CZ106, BS 2875 CZ106, EN CW505L
Farmer’s Copper Ltd. maintains an inventory of C26000 Cartridge Brass in sheet, plate, and round rod available upon request. C260 brass sometimes referred to as yellow brass, has a nominal composition of 70% copper and 30% zinc. Copper alloy 260 has excellent to good corrosion resistance in most environments but is not suitable for use with certain materials, such as acetic acid, moist ammonia or ammonia compounds, hydrochloric acid, and nitric acid. C26000 is the most ductile of the brasses and has superior cold workability, good hot formability, and is used in greater quantity than any other brasses.
Farmer’s Copper Ltd can offer our sheet or plate cut to your specifications on our shears, precision plate saws and water jets. Contact one of our knowledgeable sales staff today to assist you in your Cartridge brass requirements.

Conductivity of Brass
Conductivity of brass is little affected by adding zinc in excess of 28%.
Of the various brasses, the most important for connectors are those containing 15 and 30% zinc, although a 5% zinc version is occasionally considered. It is obvious that the conductivity of these alloys is a function of the amount of zinc they contain. If the conductivity of copper-30% zinc is not sufficient, there are lower zinc brasses…
Typical Cartridge Brass Applications
- Ammunition components
- Decorative hardware
- Plumbing accessories
- Clips, Fasteners
- Ammunition cartridge cases
- Radiator cores and tanks
